According to the study, co-authored by Chief Supervising Attorney of the California Supreme Court and UC Davis School of Law alumnus Jake Dear '83, the California Supreme Court is the most influential state court in the nation, with more than 1,200 decisions followed by other states since 1940.
The International Herald Tribune quoted former California Supreme Court Justice, and Professor Emeritus, Cruz Reynoso on the oral arguments before the California Supreme Court in six cases involving challenges to the state's marriage statutes. In the cases, the statutes are challenged as unconstitutionally denying same-sex couples the right to marry.
