On August 17, 2008, at 6:00 p.m., UC Davis School of Law faculty, alumni board members, staff, and current students convened at the Putah Creek Lodge to celebrate the incoming class of 2011 at a barbecue hosted by the Office of Admissions.

Excellent Transfer Class Joins School of Law

Twelve students joined UC Davis's J.D. program from law schools spanning the country, including Gonzaga University School of Law, Rutgers University School of Law-Newark, University of Minnesota Law School, Vermont Law School, Golden Gate University School of Law, and University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law.

UC Davis Law School Mentioned in National Law Journal Blog

The UC Davis School of Law is mentioned in a July 31, 2008, post in L.A. Legal Pad, the National Law Journal's blog. The post discusses a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit pro bono program that allows young lawyers and some law students to argue cases before the court as a way of gaining oral argument experience. The School of Law is noted as one of the few schools already participating in the program.

UC Davis Law School Hosts International Law Professionals

UC Davis International Law Summer Programs has 128 professionals from 25 countries participating in programs ranging from International Commercial Law and Orientation in U.S. Law to Financing International Transactions.

New Course Added to Summer International Law Programs

Building on the success of June's International Commercial Law Seminar in Cologne, Germany, and the current course being held at UC Davis, Orientation in U.S.A. Law, the School of Law's Summer International Programs now include Financing International Transactions. This open-enrollment course is designed to give legal, corporate, and other business professionals a broad array of information on raising capital in the international market.

UC Davis-Hosted Moot Court Competition Discussed in Washington Post

The UC Davis School of Law's Asylum and Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition was cited in a Washington Post article focusing on the increased interest among law students in immigration law and policy. The article discussed many factors currently inclining more law students towards careers in immigration law, including globalization and the tragedy of September 11.
