Professor Bala Takes Part in Roundtable on Children's Online Safety

Professor Nila Bala was invited to participate in a May 20 roundtable on children’s online safety at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento.

Presented by the Family Online Safety Institute, the closed-door discussion gathered California policymakers, industry leaders and online safety experts to address what FOSI calls “the growing need for collaboration at the state level.”

Assemblyman Josh Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) offered keynote remarks and Assemblyman Patrick Ahrens (D-Sunnyvale) conducted a Q&A with attendees.

Nila Bala joined the faculty at UC Davis School of Law in 2023. Her research focuses on children’s rights and the criminal justice system, as well as emerging technologies. Her scholarship has appeared or is forthcoming in the Michigan Law Review, Washington University Law Review and Boston College Law Review, among other journals. Her essays have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times and elsewhere.
