Professor Ziegler Receives John Lewis Award for History and Social Justice

UC Davis Law Professor Mary Ziegler received the 2026 American Historical Association's John Lewis Award for History and Social Justice. Established in 2021, this award recognizes a historian for leadership and ongoing engagement at the intersection of historical scholarship, public culture, and social justice.

An expert on the law, history, and politics of reproduction, health care, and conservatism in the United States from 1945 to the present, Ziegler is a Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law, Chancellor’s Leadership Professor of Law, Guggenheim fellow and member of the American Law Institute.
