King Hall Student Groups File Amicus Letter on Prop. 8
King Hall student groups including the American Constitution Society, Black Law Students Association, Feminist Forum, HALO, Jewish Law Student Association, Lambda Law Association, La Raza Law Student Association, Middle Eastern and South Asian Law Student Association, and National Lawyers Guild signed an amicus letter filed with the California Supreme Court on November 17 urging the Court to hear challenges to Proposition 8.
"We make this request based on the inherent serious conflict between Proposition 8 and the guarantee of equal protection in the California Constitution," the letter states. The court has since agreed to hear the challenges.
"This weekend, in response to a very last minute call for support, many King Hall student organizations agreed to stand with us and sign this amicus letter," said Kimberly Lucia '09 of Lambda Law Students. "I am so proud to be a student here at King Hall and am even more proud to call these people my classmates and future colleagues."
