Professor Sandino Talks to CEB About Farmers' Water Decisions

Professor David Sandino lent context to a June 10 story from California Continuing Education of the Bar about how the state’s “snow drought” will affect the water decisions farmers will need to make for the rest of 2026.

“When that water hits the Delta and before, further upstream, that informs how much water is available that particular water year,” Sandino told CEB. “Farmers can decide ‘we've got a good water year, we can plant more aggressively’, or ‘maybe we don't have a good water year and we will plant less and fallow some acreage.’”
