Professor Amagda Pérez, Kirsten Hill '04, Associate Director of Career Services and Public Interest Career Planning, California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation attorney Erin Hernandez '08, California Deputy Attorney General Clara Levers '03, and Immigration Law Clinic Fellow Grisel Ruiz will be joined by a group of King Hall students in traveling to Hamilton City on November 14 to provide free immigration consultation at the Know Your Rights citizenship fair.

The efforts of Genevieve Roman '10, Janet Kim '10, and Diem Tran '10 were rewarded last week when the students, under the supervision of Professor Raha Jorjani of the Immigration Law Clinic, were able to successfully terminate removal proceedings on behalf of an 80-year-old lawful permanent resident.

Two King Hall students working for the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic under the supervision of Professor Holly Cooper succeeded in assisting a child in foster care with her application for a Special Immigrant Juvenile Visa (SIJ visa), which are reserved for abused, neglected, and abandoned children.

The UC Davis School of Law Immigration Clinic and La Raza Law Students Association are co-sponsors of a Citizenship Fair, scheduled for November 7.

After nearly five years of litigation, one of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Clinic's longest-running cases came to a successful conclusion when the client known to Immigration Clinic students and staff as "JC" was granted lawful permanent resident status October 5.

Erin Hernandez '08, a recipient of the 2008 Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Award, argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on September 1.

This fall, the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic welcomes Grisel Ruiz and Shanti Martin, two fellowship recipients who will be working with the clinic during the 2009-10 academic year.

The UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic successfully petitioned to have a client's criminal convictions vacated last week, thanks to a collaborative effort spearheaded by Su Yon Yi '10 and Parisa Ijadi-Magshoodi '10.
