U.S. Supreme Court Cites Professor Amar in Jury-Trial Rights Case

In the noteworthy case of Securities and Exchange Commission v. Jarkesy, the U.S. Supreme Court's majority opinion, on June 27, 2024, cited Professor Vikram Amar’s scholarship on the importance of honoring the historical understandings of jury-trial rights under the Seventh Amendment.  Amar’s article the court cited can be found here.

Vikram Amar returned to UC Davis as a distinguished professor of law in 2023 after serving for eight years as dean and Iwan Foundation Professor of Law at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign College of Law. Before that, he was a professor and the senior associate dean for academic affairs at King Hall from 2008 to 2015.
