Professor Cooper Comments on Immigration Enforcement for KXTV

Professor Holly S. Cooper '98, co-director of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, commented for a report on Sacramento television station KXTV (CBS-13) on the large-scale Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations expected to begin soon in Northern California. ICE reportedly is expecting to arrest 1,500 undocumented immigrants.

Professor Cooper said the massive size of the operation is unusual because it would require a lot of resources to detain more than 1,000 individuals and provide them with hearings. She advised undocumented people to prepare.

“If you do have a removal order you should talk to a lawyer immediately,” Cooper said.
