Professor Amar Co-authors New SCOTUSblog Series of Columns on 2025 High Court Cases
Professor Vikram Amar has co-authored a new series of columns about 2025 Supreme Court cases with his brother, Yale Law School Professor Akhil Amar, as part of the SCOTUSblog’s new format.
Three of the Amars’ “Brothers in Law” pieces address U.S. v. Skrmetti, a case of first impression about what the Constitution says and does not say about transgender issues.
As the Amars write, “The case implicated one of the deepest questions of American constitutional law: What sorts of governmental discriminations/distinctions pass constitutional muster and what sorts are improper?”
Vikram Amar returned to UC Davis as a distinguished professor of law in 2023 after serving for eight years as dean and Iwan Foundation Professor of Law at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign College of Law. Before that, he was a professor and the senior associate dean for academic affairs at King Hall from 2008 to 2015.
