Cruz Reynoso Bar Association Honors California Attorney General Xavier Becerra

A few years ago, the La Raza Lawyers of Sacramento was renamed the Cruz Reynoso Bar Association in honor of UC Davis Professor Emeritus Cruz Reynoso, a civil rights icon who is the inspiration of many Latino lawyers. I had the honor of seeing the Association honor California Attorney General Xavier Becerra with the Community Service Award (Defensor de Justicia). The ceremony was held at Sacramento City Hall.

UC Davis was well-represented at the gala. Professor Cruz Reynoso was in attendance as well as law students and faculty, including Professor Amagda Perez. Associate Vice Chancellor Raquel Aldana, who has been active in the Cruz Reynoso Bar Association, talked about Attorney General Becerra's many achievements. We also had alumni in attendance, including Judge David I. Brown, Mayor of Sacramento Darrell Steinberg (pictured with Sacramento Bee columnist Marcos Breton), and others.
