Professor Pérez Comments on Rising Citizenship Applications for Sacramento Bee

Professor Amagda Pérez, Co-director of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, commented for the Sacramento Bee on the rising number of citizenship applications in the Sacramento region as local immigrant communities have responded to the election of President Trump, who has promised to increase deportations of undocumented immigrants.

“One of the primary reasons people are telling us is there are so many changes in immigration law, they are worried,” Pérez said. She also said many people want to finalize their applications because they want to vote, saying “We understand now that it is very important to vote.  We can’t be letting people make decisions for us.”
