Professor Carlton F.W. Larson contributed to PolitiFact’s April fact-check on Republican Tennessee House of Representatives Speaker Cameron Sexton equating House floor protests by three Democratic lawmakers against gun violence to the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riots.

The Tennessee lawmakers "were authorized to be on the floor of the Tennessee house, whereas the January 6 participants were all engaged in unlawful trespassing," Larson said.

PolitiFact rated Sexton’s claim about the “Tennessee Three” to be “false.”
