King Hall Team Wins First Place in ABA Client Counseling Competition

On February 9-10, 2013, the King Hall Negotiations Team sent two teams to compete in the American Bar Association's Regional Client Counseling Competition hosted by Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles. This year's competition topic was employment law. Students paired up in teams of two and each completed mock intake interviews and legal counseling sessions with actor clients who represented both employers and employees in various legal situations.

Allison Callaghan '13 and Christina Ithurburn '13 represented King Hall as one team in the competition, and Laura Gallagher '14 and Doug Bojack '14 comprised another. At the end of the first round, both teams advanced to semi-finals, with Callaghan and Ithurburn seeded first and Gallagher and Bojack seeded fourth. Gallagher and Bojack advanced to the final round that was held the following day. There, they claimed First Place overall and will continue on to represent the Ninth Region of the ABA in the national competition to be held in Texas this spring.

The teams would like to thank the King Hall deans and Faculty Advisor Professor Donna Shestowsky for their support, as well as their student coaches, Saba Shatara '13 and Leah White '13, and all of the student volunteers who helped them prepare.
