Melissa Jones '99, Scott Lay '00 Named as '40 Under 40' Honorees
Melissa Jones '99 and Scott Lay '00 were among the local business and civic leaders chosen as part of the Sacramento Business Journal's 2012 class of "40 Under 40" honorees.
Jones, who is Of Counsel at Stoel Rives, is recognized as a leading defense attorney for cases brought under California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, as well as for her pro bono work, and her civic involvement.
Lay, President and CEO of the Community College League of California, is recognized for his leadership in ensuring the League's survival during a period of declining community college revenues, as well as his work in helping to reform the community college funding formula and for providing free legislative and political websites that enable people to get information on and track the progress of legislation.
Winners were chosen from a field of more than 200 nominees and honored at a reception on December 13 in Sacramento. Finalists nominated for the award included Kimberly Lucia '09 of Boutin Jones and Jeff Piettsch '06 of Weintraub Genshlea Chediak Tobin & Tobin, as well UC Davis School of Law Director of Marketing and Communications Pamela Wu.
