Raha Jorjani Speaks on Immigration Detention at UC Irvine Human Rights Symposium

Raha Jorjani addressed mandatory detention and the elimination of individualized assessments in immigration detention decisions at the Human Rights First symposium held on September 24 at UC Irvine School of Law. The symposium brought together immigration experts with criminal law experts to compare and contrast the two systems. She spoke as part of a panel that included UC Irvine School of Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, and which was moderated by former King Hall faculty member Professor Jennifer Chacon.  The symposium was one of four programs on detention taking place nationwide as part of the Human Rights First "Dialogues on Detention'' series.

Raha Jorjani is a staff attorney and lecturer in the Immigration Law Clinic at the UC Davis School of Law with a special interest in advocacy on behalf of detained immigrants.
