Jan Carmikle '90 Comments on UC Policy and Notehall Website
Jan Carmikle '90, senior intellectual property officer at UC Davis, commented for the Merced Sun-Star on actions taken by the University of California against Notehall, a website where students sell class notes. Carmikle confirmed that UC's legal office sent a cease-and-desist letter to Notehall in November 2010, prompted in part by complaints at UC Davis about the website. The California Education Code prohibits students from selling class notes and many campuses have policies that also ban unauthorized note-selling.
