Dean Johnson Named a 'Dean to Watch' by Influential Legal Blog

Dean Kevin R. Johnson has been named a "Dean to Watch" by University of Chicago Professor Brian Leiter on his influential Law School Reports blog.  In his entry on July 19, Leiter named "Nine Transformative Deans" and "Deans to Watch," who are, in his words, "transforming the institutions they lead" by changing their "intellectual identity and scholarly profile."

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law.  He became Dean on July 1, 2008.  Under his leadership, UC Davis School of Law has risen from 44th to 23rd in the U.S. News & World Report rankings of ABA-approved law schools.  He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
