2011 Commencement Features California Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye '84

Tani Cantil-Sakauye ‘84, Chief Justice of California and an alumna of UC Davis School of Law, will speak at the Law School's 2011 commencement on Friday, May 13 at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. 

Cantil-Sakauye, sworn in four months ago, serves as Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court and chairs the Judicial Council of California, the administrative policymaking body of the state's courts, as well as the Commission on Judicial Appointments.  The first Asian-American to lead the state's judiciary, Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye earned an undergraduate degree in rhetoric in 1980 and a law degree in 1984 from UC Davis.

The event will also feature faculty speaker Professor Dennis Ventry and student speaker Richard Nguyen.

The School of Law will award 17 Master of Laws and 193 Juris Doctor degrees at the ceremony.
