Law School Sponsors Toobin Lecture

Jeffery ToobinUC Davis School of Law sponsored the Sacramento Speakers Series lecture by legal analyst and author Jeffrey Toobin on March 4 at the Community Center Theater in Sacramento.  The event included a pre-lecture reception attended by King Hall alumni, faculty, students, and staff, and Dean Kevin R. Johnson's introduction of Toobin's lecture.

Toobin is senior legal analyst for the CNN network, a staff writer for The New Yorker, and the author of bestselling books including The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court and Too Close to Call: The 36-Day Battle to Decide the 2000 Election

Guests at the pre-event reception included Vice Chancellor for Research Barry Klein; Dean's Leadership Council members Phil Satre '75, Keith Allen-Niesen '89, and Mark Perry '80; Alumni Board members Steve Boutin '72, Tom Stallard'‘75, John Schick '72, Carol Livingston '80, and Will Brieger '85; Susan McClatchy of the Central Valley Foundation; several members of the King Hall faculty; and LSA president Victoria Hassid '10.

Toobin spoke on topics including Bush v. Gore, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that effectively decided the 2000 election, possible nominees for the next opening on the U.S. Supreme Court, and the potential for a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on California's Proposition 8.
