Play by Wajahat Ali '07 Set for Berkeley Run

"Domestic Crusaders," a play by Wajahat Ali '07 about an immigrant Muslim family's attempts to come to terms with life in post-9/11 America, will be performed at the Durham Studio Theatre on the UC Berkeley campus on April 10-11.  The work has been featured in the New York Times and on MSNBC.com.

In addition, a wildly popular article by Ali, previously available only as a part of The San Francisco Panorama, a special issue of the literary journal McSweeney's Quarterly, is now available online.  In alternately serious and humorous tones, the article details Ali's battle to save his clients' home from foreclosure.  The popular website The Consumerist linked to the story, naming Ali the "Consumerist's Hero of the Weekend."

Ali, a Pakistani-American who grew up in Fremont before attending UC Berkeley and then King Hall, has enjoyed a successful career as a writer, contributing essays and articles to publications including The Guardian of London and The Huffington Post
