La Raza Students Host ‘Bienvenida Picnic'
The La Raza Law Students Association hosted their annual "Bienvenida Picnic" on August 28, with Dean Kevin R. Johnson, Director of Academic Success Emily Randon, and Professors Clay Tanaka, Miguel Méndez, Cruz Reynoso, and Amagda Pérez joining the more than two dozen students in attendance. King Hall faculty, staff, and students enjoyed the cool weather and carne asada grilled by Dean Johnson as they mingled around the picnic tables at Community Park in Davis.
Alexis Alvarez '11, recruitment and retention co-chair for La Raza Law Students, said the goal for the event was "to create a convivial atmosphere" for students to get to know one another as well as King Hall faculty and staff. "We're happy to see such a great turnout," she said.
Jose Olivera '11, also a recruitment and retention co-chair for La Raza Law Students, said the annual event is "a good opportunity to welcome back our membership, and also to welcome the 1Ls and to show them what kind of community we can be."
