A Conversation with Karen Korematsu: The Korematsu Legacy
Wednesday, February 2
King Hall rm 1008
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Continuing the Korematsu Day celebration, APALSA is honored to welcome to King Hall Special Guest Speaker, Karen Korematsu, Fred Korematsu's daughter and co-founder of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute for Civil Rights and Education! She will discuss what it was like growing up as Fred Korematsu's daughter and give us a personal perspective on the challenges he faced campaigning to reopen and overturn World War II Japanese Internment convictions. This was the first time anyone in American legal history attempted to overturn convictions decided by the United States Supreme Court.
Burgers and Brew served. We hope to see you all there!
