Access
The Mabie Law Library is available for law study or research during hours. A collection of practitioner-oriented treatises, including CEB, Rutter Group and Witkin titles, are located in the Library's Reserve Area and circulate only for 4 hours. All other books are shelved in open stacks with the exception of Rare Books and Archives. For after-hours access, see section below on keys that may be purchased by local attorneys.
Assistance with Research & Library Collections
Reference Librarians are available to assist alumni in locating books and providing research tips, during all open hours -- in person, via email
or by telephone at 752-0210.
Books & Other Print Materials
Finding Books:
Visit the Library's Find Books page for details on searching for books found at Mabie Law Library, other UC Campus Libraries and beyond.
Borrowing Books & Interlibrary Loan:
Procedures for borrowing, returning, renewing and interlibrary lending of books and other materials are found at the Circulation Services web page.
Desktop Support & Computer Services
Computers in the Library on Level 3 may be used by anyone for legal research, but are not available for email or wordprocessing. Online printing is available to 10 cents a page, with copycard. Food and drink are not permitted near any computers. The Computer Lab is for UC Davis law students only.
Faculty Publications
The Library maintains an archive of Law faculty publications and exhibits selected faculty publications in the corridor south of the Mabie Library entrance. Each faculty member is asked to select a representative sample of his/her publications to include in the exhibit.
Keycards
For a limited time, UC Davis Law alums can pay $25.00 annually to receive a key for after-hours access. The building expansion includes the installation of a new security system, and we expect there will be some changes to our present procedures for after-hour access. For security reasons, key holders may not loan key to others or allow others access to the building after hours. The Reserve section is not available after hours.
Lost and Found
The Library prepares a monthly list of New Books and also a selected list of "highlighted books" that is updated regularly. Recent acquisitions are housed in an exhibit case located outside the Mabie Law Library entrance -- students may request to borrow display-case books at the Circulation/Reserve desk.
