The Annual Northern California Public Interest/Public Sector Legal Careers Day (PI/PS Day), a job fair and networking event, is designed to increase students' exposure to a vast array of public interest organizations and government agencies. Nine northern California law schools and OneJustice host this event every February in San Francisco.
Specific instructions on how to access the PIPS Day database on Symplicity are sent to students in mid-December. Similar to the On-Campus Interview program, PIPS Day is a formal process where students "bid" for individual interviews. Each bid should be accompanied by a targeted cover letter, resume, and any other application materials requested by the employer. More information, including a list of employers who participated the previous year, can be found on the One Justice website.
PI/PS Day has two components:
- Formal Interviews: Employers conduct on-site formal, pre-screened interviews for paid, work-study or volunteer positions. First, second, and third year students may apply for positions through PI/PS Day. Formal interviews are only open to students of sponsoring schools.
- Meet the Advocates: Representatives from organizations are available to speak with students. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the work done by a large number of organizations. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to the public service community and learn about a wide range of opportunities. These contacts can produce positive results, either in the short-run or further down the line. Meet the Advocates is open to the public.
