King Hall Immigration Law Clinic Client Receives Gubernatorial Pardon

Governor Jerry Brown has granted a rare gubernatorial pardon to a UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic client.  Joseph Tang '12 assisted the client in securing a Certificate of Rehabilitation and seeking the pardon under the supervision of Immigration Law Clinic Staff Attorney and Lecturer Raha Jorjani, currently on leave.

Prior to receiving the pardon, the Clinic had succeeded in terminating removal proceedings against the client, a retired high school teacher, in August 2012. The Department of Homeland Security had placed the client in removal proceedings based on criminal convictions that were from three decades ago.
