King Hall Plays Prominent Role in National Lawyers Guild Progressive Lawyering Day 2013

King Hall faculty, alumni, and students will play a prominent role in the National Lawyers Guild Progressive Lawyering Day 2013.  The event is a student-led, day-long conference on politics and the law that includes panels, workshops, and networking opportunities for students.  This year's conference, to be held in San Francisco on September 21,  includes panels on voting rights, immigration detention, labor rights, law school tuition, prisoners' rights, and housing activism.

Professor Christopher Elmendorf will participate in a panel discussion of "Voting Rights after Shelby County" that will also include Joanna Cuevas Ingram '12, an Equal Justice Works Fellow and Attorney at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights in San Francisco. Holly Cooper, staff attorney with the Immigration Law Clinic, will take part in a panel discussion on immigration detention.  Among the students helping to organize the conference were Abenicio Cisneros '14 and Stephanie Platenkamp '14.
