Dean Johnson Comments for Media on Obama Border Enforcement Policy

Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented on President Obama's record on enforcing security along the U.S.-Mexico border for a report by the McClatchy News Service that was published in newspapers including the Sacramento Bee, Miami Herald, and others around the country.

The article notes that by most objective standards Obama has ramped up border security, escalating spending on immigration enforcement and increasing deportations, yet some in Congress remain skeptical about his commitment to curbing illegal immigration.

"To say this president hasn't committed to increased enforcement is not possible," said Dean Johnson.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
