Leah White '13 and Steve Westhoff '13 Make Final Four in Environmental Negotiation Competition

Leah White '13 and Steve Westhoff '13 represented UC Davis School of Law in the California State Bar Environmental Section's Student Environmental Negotiation Competition on March 15. Hosted by Golden Gate Law School, the competition presented a simplified version of the present conservation, water supply, and funding issues facing the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. Out of the 20 teams competing from 12 different California law schools, UC Davis successfully advanced to the final four and ultimately placed third overall.

The King Hall Negotiations Team and the competitors would like to thank Faculty Advisor Professor Donna Shestowsky for her support and Professor Rick Frank, Professor Jennifer Harder, and Center for Environmental Law and Policy Fellow Miles Hogan '12 for their assistance in developing negotiation strategies incorporating critical environmental laws. The team would also like to thank the student volunteers from the King Hall Negotiations Team and Environmental Law Society, who helped them prepare for the competition. Finally, the team would also like to thank the Dean's Office for its financial support.
