Immigration Law Clinic Students Win Legal Permanent Resident Status for Teenaged Client

UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic students Laura Gavilan '14 and Osman Mohammed '13, working under the direction of clinic Staff Attorney Holly Cooper and with help from Rachel Prandini '10, have succeeded in obtaining legal permanent resident status for a teenaged client.  The case was referred to the clinic by Child Protective Services.  With the client's visa deadline looming, Gavilan and Mohammed coordinated with CPS to obtain supporting documents and filed the application.  After U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services scheduled the client's interview during the holiday season in Los Angeles, Prandini, a clinic alumna, agreed to assist with the interview. The students followed up with a letter detailing the client's eligibility, and the application was approved on March 4.
