Professor Reynoso Oversees Mediation in L.A. Unified School District Lawsuits

Professor Cruz Reynoso is overseeing the mediation process as the Los Angeles Unified School District seeks to settle 198 legal claims filed in connected with lewd conduct charges against a former teacher.  The mediation involves 16 law firms representing 126 students and 63 parents and guardians and is intended to avoid forcing the children involved to participate in what would likely be a lengthy court proceeding.  Professor Reynoso's role in the case has been mentioned in media including the Los Angeles Times and New York Times.

A member of the UC Davis School of Law faculty since 2001, Professor Reynoso is an internationally known civil rights leader, the first Latino to sit on the California Supreme Court, and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.  He has been awarded the UC Davis Medal, the university's highest honor, and the Law School has established the Cruz & Jeannene Reynoso Scholarship for Legal Access to help students with financial needs.
