Professor Hillman Comments on Dewey & LeBoeuf Settlement Claims for American Lawyer

Professor Robert Hillman commented for American Lawyer on settlement claims made in the wake of the bankruptcy of Dewey & LeBoeuf. As the bankruptcy moves through the courts, the firm's trustee is expected to pursue unfinished business claims against firms that took Dewey partners and presumably also took some ongoing business.  In the article, Hillman commented on such claims, and said that while it was difficult to make comparisons of settlements involving different-sized firms and bankruptcies involving different circumstances, most firms try to "streamline the settlement of small claims."

Professor Hillman holds the Fair Business Practices and Investor Advocacy Chair at UC Davis School of Law and is a scholar in the fields of international transactions, securities regulation, and corporate and partnership law.
