Immigration Law Clinic Prevents Client Deportation
The UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic has prevented the deportation of a client, bringing a successful resolution to a case that spanned more than three years and involved numerous Immigration Law Clinic students.
Su Yon Yi '10, now a Special Project Attorney at Immigrant Legal Resource Center, contributed to the effort by vacating minor convictions in two different California counties in hearings held on the same day. Parisa Ijadi-Maghsoodi '10, now Managing Attorney at Legal Services of Northern California, was able to renegotiate immigration-safe pleas for the client, and Serena Salinas '12 and Jennifer Wickens '12 vacated a minor drug offense in Sacramento Superior Court. Robert Semones '13 and Michael Wu '12 obtained the client's release from immigration custody and filed a motion to terminate deportation proceedings, which was granted August 10.
