Kara DiBiasio '13 and Lauren Herrera '13 Win Neumiller Competition

The team of Kara DiBiasio '13 and Lauren Herrera '13 triumphed in the 43rd annual Neumiller Moot Court Competition hosted by the UC Davis School of Law Moot Court program in the Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom on April 7.

The competition, which features the four top advocates from the King Hall Appellate Advocacy program, pitted the team of DiBiasio and Herrera against Zachary Schultz '13 and Nathan Zhang '13. Students argued a problem involving whether a school district has the authority to discipline students for Internet speech.  After an impressive showing of advocacy skills by all competitors, DiBiasio and Herrera were judged the winners of the competition.

This year's esteemed panel of judges featured the Honorable Raymond C. Fisher of the U.S Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Honorable John A. Mendez of the U.S District Court for the District of California, the Honorable William B. Shubb, Senior District Court Judge for the Eastern District of California, and the Honorable Milan D. Smith, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
