Raha Jorjani Travels to Jamaica to Address Deportee Reintegration Issues

Raha Jorjani traveled to Kingston, Jamaica on January 15-18 in order to meet with government officials, faculty at the University of the West Indies, and deportees from the United States in order to address issues of reintegration and reabsorption of deportees in receiving countries and the impact of U.S. deportation policies on small island nations.  The trip was part of a larger project looking at whether U.S. advocates can positively impact efforts toward successful reintegration of deportees, and whether international partnerships can impact pre-deportation advocacy.

Raha Jorjani is a staff attorney and lecturer in the Immigration Law Clinic at the UC Davis School of Law with a special interest in advocacy on behalf of detained immigrants.
