The Grants Program was established by the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation (RMMLF) in 1976 to promote scholarship, research, writing, teaching and the study of mineral resources law and related fields at law schools around the country. Grants recently awarded have ranged from $2000 to $5000.
Grant applications are accepted on a continuing basis and are generally evaluated quarterly. Applications are evaluated by the RMMLF Grants Committee, with preference given to Member Law Schools of the Foundation and to projects having results of widespread utility and value. Projects encouraged include: the preparation of teaching materials in mining law, oil and gas law, energy law, water law, public land law and related areas; research expenses incurred by faculty and supervised law students in mineral resources law and related fields; printing or publication expenses for law school seminars, short courses, or symposia in mineral resources law and related fields; visiting lectureships for law programs or symposia in mineral resources law and related fields; and preparation of substantive articles and materials on mineral resources law and related fields for publication and widespread dissemination.
