Alumni Lunch in Fresno

Yesterday was a great, sunny day for a drive to visit Fresno-area alums of King Hall. (Associate Director of Alumni Relations Ginger Welsh did the driving, and we listened to the Cal vs. Oregon basketball game in the car. Cal won!)

I met about 20 enthusiastic alums at "The Elbow Room" restaurant. After Alumni Board member Gage Dungy '03 provided a very kind introduction, I told them about the King Hall Expansion and Renovation Project. Alums - ranging from the Class of '71 to '08 - were thrilled to learn about the building improvements, for they know that the law school building is pretty much the same as when they were in school! They thought it was especially exciting (I heard the words "fantastic" and "amazing.") that the California Law Revision Commission is going to be housed in the new expansion, and that plans are underway for the hosting of oral arguments of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, California Supreme Court, and California Court of Appeal in the new Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom.

It was fun to catch up with the alums, many of whom asked for updates on their favorite law professors. I also had a nice talk with Judge Dale Ikeda '76 of the Fresno County Superior Court.

Alumni gatherings are always a pleasure to attend.  Next up: a reception with alumni in Washington, D.C. on March 25!
