Members of the UC Davis School of Law Class of 2012 returned to
King Hall to celebrate passing the California State Bar Examination
and participate in a Swearing-In Ceremony featuring Dean Kevin R.
Johnson, the Honorable Louis Mauro '87 of the California Court of
Appeal, the Honorable Frank Damrell of the U.S. District Court for the
Eastern District of California, King Hall Alumni Association President
Kara Ueda '00, and Mike Levy, Chief Counsel of the California Energy
Commission and former President of the Sacramento County Bar
Association. More than 250 class members, family, and friends
attended the ceremony and reception that followed.
Dean Kevin R. Johnson has been named among the "Most Influential
in Legal Education" by National Jurist, placing 14th in a ranking of the
top 25 most influential individuals published in the magazine's
January 2013 issue.
UC Davis is well on its way toward a successful completion of the
$1 billion Campaign for UC Davis, and the School of Law is helping
to lead the way. Thanks to the generosity of the King Hall community, the Law School has raised more $14.5 million, and hopes are high
that an additional $5.5 million in support for scholarships, faculty
chairs and professorships, and research and instruction will be
realized before the campaign ends in December 2014.
UC Davis School of Law’s Clinical Programs were stronger than ever
in 2012. From the launch of the California Supreme Court Clinic to
the impressive victories by the Family Protection and Legal Assistance
Clinic to the Immigration Law Clinic naturalization workshops that
served hundreds of local immigrants, the past year was a time of
rising profiles and increasing impact for the Clinical Programs.
Professor Emeritus Gary Goodpaster, a member of the King Hall
faculty from 1971-1999, has died.
