Class of 2011 Celebrates 2011 Swearing-In Ceremony

Members of the Class of 2011 returned to King Hall on December 2
to celebrate passing the July 2011 California State Bar Examination
and participate in a Swearing-In Ceremony featuring Dean Kevin R.
Johnson, Associate Justice Rebecca Wiseman '80 of the California
Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District, U.S. District Judge Kimberly
Mueller of the Eastern District of California, and King Hall Alumni
Association President John Schick '72.

Angela Onwuachi-Willig Delivers Bodenheimer Lecture
on Interracial Relationships

Angela Onwuachi-Willig, the Charles and Marion J. Keirscht
Professor of Law at University of Iowa College of Law and a former
member of the King Hall faculty, delivered a captivating lecture on
interracial marriage and the law in the 2011 Brigitte M. Bodenheimer
Lecture on Family Law in the Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom on
November 8.  Entitled "According to Our Hearts: What Does the
Rhinelander v. Rhinelander Case Teach Us about Race, Law, and
Family?", the event drew a large turnout of King Hall faculty,
students, and staff.

California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Conference
Brings Top Environmental Officials, Policy Experts to King Hall

"CEQA at 40," a conference on the California Environmental Quality
Act hosted by the California Environmental Law and Policy Center
(CELPC) and UC Davis School of Law, brought an overflow
audience to King Hall on November 4.  In one of the largest turnouts
for any King Hall conference, approximately 350 attendees filled the
Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom and three overflow rooms for an
intensive examination of one the state’s most important
environmental laws.

The King Hall Annual Fund: Bridging the Gap,
Keeping the Dream Alive

With state support now accounting for only about 15 percent of the
Law School budget, rising student fees are not enough to make up
for funding lost to budget cuts.  That’s why the King Hall Annual Fund
is more important than ever, bridging the gap to provide vital support
for the Law School and expand the educational opportunities
available to students. With 2010 drawing to a close, now is the perfect time to make a gift to the King Hall Annual Fund!
