Dean Kevin R. Johnson acted as host and emcee for the 2009
UC Davis Fall Convocation on September 23 at the Mondavi Center
for the Performing Arts. Introducing speakers including new UC Davis
Chancellor Linda Katehi, Dean Johnson remarked on the chancellor’s
impressive background, her dedication to students and to the Law
School, and the promise of the years ahead.

In one of the most well-attended reunions in the Law School’s history,
King Hall Alumni from eight different classes filled the Studio Theatre
at the Mondavi Center for the 2009 Alumni Reunions on
September 26. About 250 alumni participated, attending the luncheon,
touring the King Hall Expansion and Renovation project construction
site, and enjoying a variety of related receptions and activities.

More than 50 King Hall alumni have volunteered to urge their class
members to give to the King Hall Expansion and Renovation project
and help meet the goals that will result in the William and Inez Mabie
Foundation committing up to an additional $500,000 to the project as
part of the Mabie Challenge.

The teams of Patrick Anding ’10 and Jesse Yang ’11 and Samuel
Carstensen ’12 and Anthony Bettencourt ’12 scored highest in the
King Hall Intra-School Negotiation Competition on September 20,
earning the right to represent UC Davis School of Law in the American
Bar Association Regional Negotiation Competition in November.
