Professor Ventry Contributes ‘Tax Tips' for Wallet Hub

Professor Dennis Ventry commented for an article entitled "Countdown to Tax Day: Wallet Hub's 2014 Expert Tax Tips," published on the consumer finance website Wallet Hub. Professor Ventry suggested that taxpayers should plan for delays in the processing of returns this year as a result of the 2013 government shutdown.

"Low and moderate-income taxpayers will undoubtedly get hit hardest by the delayed processing season," said Ventry. "Compared to other taxpayer cohorts, low- and moderate-income taxpayers file their returns earlier in the tax season if only because, given their low levels of income, they stand to receive tax refunds usually in the form of refundable tax credits or over-withholding."

Professor Ventry is an expert in tax policy and legal ethics. His research interests include tax expenditure analysis, family taxation, professional responsibility and standards of care, tax filing and administration, tax compliance, public finance, and tax and legal history. In addition, he was recently added as a co-author on the casebook, Legal Ethics and Corporate Practice.
