King Hall Immigration Law Clinic Students Secure Special Green Card for Foster Child Client

UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic Students Sachin Kalra '14 and Nathan Levey '15 succeeded in securing legal permanent resident status for a juvenile client who was granted a special green card issued for victims of abuse. The students met with the client, who is in foster care, and designed an expedited legal plan to acquire a green card application before the client turned 18 years old.

"The client had a very sensitive case and the students were able to gain her trust--the most important quality of any lawyer," said Holly Cooper, a lecturer and staff attorney at the Immigration Law Clinic. Guillermo Marquez Ancona of the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento also provided indispensable assistance in the case, Cooper said.
