Immigration Clinic Case Draws Coverage in Wall Street Journal

A case in which the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic is collaborating with former United States Solicitor General Paul Clement has drawn coverage from the Wall Street Journal.  The article includes comments from Immigration Law Clinic Staff Attorney Holly Cooper.

The case concerns Claudette Hubbard, a lesbian who has been ordered removed to Jamaica, a country known for violence against homosexuals. Hubbard, who has been subjected to violence as a result of her sexual orientation on visits to Jamaica, has appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, seeking protection under the Convention Against Torture.

Cooper is quoted in the article regarding her recruitment of Clement as a collaborator in the case, and regarding the status of Hubbard in immigration detention.
