Arnulfo Medina '12 Named as First UC Davis/CRLAF Fellow in Civil Rights

Arnulfo Medina '12 has been named as the first recipient of an exciting new joint post-graduate fellowship launched by UC Davis School of Law and the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation (CRLAF). 

As the UC Davis/CRLAF Fellow in Civil Rights, Medina enjoys the unique opportunity to work with and learn from CRLAF and Immigration Law Clinic attorneys in providing assistance to clients eligible for relief under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.  He will also work with Amagda Pérez, Director of the Law School's Immigration Law Clinic and Executive Director of CRLAF, in creating a manual and training materials for DACA representation that will be used by future Immigration Law Clinic students. The fellowship will run throughout the 2012-13 academic year.

Medina earned his bachelor's degree from Stanford University in 2002 before attending King Hall, where he was a recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Service Award and participated in student organizations including the La Raza Law Students Association, the Health Law Association, and Advocates for Youth Justice.  He also served externships with the San Francisco Attorney's Office, the Legal Aid Society, and California Department of Public Health. He also worked as a student legal assistant with the Immigration Law Clinic, where he served clients with complicated cancellation of removal cases and participated in the Mexican Consulate's mobile consulate outreach program. He is fluent in both Spanish and English.
