International Latino Book Awards Honors Dean Johnson

Dean Kevin R. Johnson was honored at the 14th Annual International Latino Book Awards, winning First Place in the Best Reference Book in English category for Immigration Law and the US-Mexico Border.  The book, co-authored with Valparaiso University School of Law Professor Bernard Trujillo and published on the University of Arizona Press, explores the history of discrimination against Mexican Americans, recent crackdowns on undocumented immigrants, and other issues central to the national debate over immigration.  The largest and most important Latino book awards in the United States, the International Latino Book Awards was held June 5 at the Instituto Cervantes in New York City.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
