Holly Cooper Comments on Undocumented Immigrant's Bar Application for KPCC

Holly S. Cooper, lecturer and staff attorney with the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, commented for Southern California public radio station KPCC on the case of Sergio Garcia, an undocumented immigrant who has applied for a license to practice law in California.

Garcia, who was brought to the United States by his undocumented immigrant parents when he was 17 months old, has passed the California State Bar Examination, earned a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, and otherwise fulfilled the requirements for the license, and his application was certified to the California Supreme Court for review.  The Court responded by ordering the Bar to clarify several issues related to the practice of law by undocumented immigrants, paving the way for potential oral arguments on the case.

Holly Cooper is a lecturer and serves as staff attorney at the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic. Her areas of specialty include immigration law and detained immigrants' rights.
