Ramona E. Romero, U.S. Department of Agriculture General Counsel, to Speak at Lorenzo Patiño Banquet

Ramona E. Romero, General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, will be the featured speaker at the 30th Annual Lorenzo Patiño Banquet held in Sacramento on March 31. Romero is the first Latina to serve as USDA General Counsel, and a national leader among the Latino legal community.

Romero, who immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic at age 12, holds a B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.  She is celebrated for her work with the Hispanic National Bar Association, where she has served in leadership roles including National President, strengthened the organization's infrastructure, and promoted recruitment and retention of Latinos in law schools and the legal profession.  She was identified as one of the United States' "100 most influential Hispanics" by Hispanic Business Magazine, which also selected her as one of four finalists for its Woman of the Year Award in 2009.  Prior to her appointment at the USDA, she served as Corporate Counsel, Logistics and Energy for DuPont.

Now in its 30th year, the Lorenzo Patiño Awards Banquet is held annually to honor one of UC Davis School of Law's distinguished Latino graduates.  To learn more about the event and to purchase tickets, follow the link below.
