Professor Joslin Comments on Lawrence King Case for Time

Professor Courtney Joslin commented for Time magazine on the courtroom tactics of defense attorneys in the trial of Brandon McInerney, who is accused of killing gay middle school classmate Lawrence King in an Oxnard classroom three years ago.  Professor Joslin said that McInerney is using what is known as the "gay panic defense," arguing that a gay person's sexual advances are so frightening that they lead the perpetrator to commit violence.

"It is blaming the victim," Joslin said.

Professor Joslin is a scholar in the field of family and relationship recognition, with a particular focus on same-sex and non-marital couples.
