Holly S. Cooper Receives KHLF Alumni Award

Professor Holly S. Cooper was honored with the King Hall Legal Foundation (KHLF) Alumni Award at the 33rd Annual KHLF Auction on February 25 at Freeborn Hall on the UC Davis campus.   The award honors Cooper for her public interest work, which has included not only her efforts on behalf of clients of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic but also two trips to Haiti as part of a human rights delegation.  Cooper worked to provide legal aid to Haitians needing medical care who qualified for a humanitarian parole to the United States and for victims of gender violence.

The annual KHLF Charity Auction is a Law School tradition that began in 1978 as a modest affair, but has grown to be one of the most anticipated events of the year for the King Hall community.  Alumni, faculty, students, and staff come together to raise funds for the KHLF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing equal access of underserved populations to the American Legal System. The Foundation funds projects proposed and executed by King Hall students, and supports graduating students pursuing careers in the public interest as they prepare for the Bar Examination.

Holly Cooper is a professor of law and serves as staff attorney at the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic. Her areas of specialty include immigration law and detained immigrants' rights.
