King Hall Class of 2013 Hails from 23 States, Eight Nations
From Connecticut to Hawaii, from Armenia to Hong Kong, members of the UC Davis School of Law Class of 2013 hail from a long list of home states and nations, with a geographical diversity that reflects their diversity as individuals. The 196-member class includes residents of 23 American states and citizens of six foreign nations.
As would be expected at a University of California law school, the majority of students are California residents, with 146 members of the Class of 2013 listing the Golden State and their home. But the class also includes residents of Arizona, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin. In addition, the class includes citizens of Armenia, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Mexico, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, as wells as students who have lived or studied abroad in more than two dozen countries.
The Class of 2013 is a remarkably accomplished and diverse group, boasting a median undergraduate GPA of 3.69 and a median Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score of 163 (in the 90th percentile of all LSAT takers). About 45 percent are women, and 40 percent are people of color. They range in age from 19-37.
A substantial number of the class have experience in the legal profession, often as a legal assistant, paralegal, or law firm intern. Their life experiences have been rich and varied, and the class includes a jazz pianist, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a stand-up comedian, and a volunteer with the Neighborhood Legal Services Workers' Rights Clinic who also played guitar in a touring rock band. The class also includes four students who went through the King Hall Outreach Program (KHOP) and two who completed the Pre-Law Boot Camp, bringing the total number of KHOP and Boot Camp students at the Law School to 11.
The Class of 2013 joins a King Hall student body that is remarkable in its geographical diversity. Students present for the first day of classes in the 2010-11 academic year attended a total of 154 different institutions as undergraduates, including:
